Instructions
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of all contaminants (grease, salt, etc.). Assessment and preparation should be conducted in accordance with ISO 8504.
1. Scaled steel: Sandblast to Sa 2.5.
2. Scale-free steel: Sandblast to Sa 2.5 or grind with a spring-loaded abrasive wheel to St 3.
3. Shop-primed steel: Perform secondary rust removal using light blasting or pneumatic (electric) spring-loaded abrasive wheels to St 3.
4. Welded, flame-cut, or pyrotechnically corrected burn areas: Remove weld slag and spatter, smoothen, and then grind with a spring-loaded abrasive wheel to St 3.
5. Repairs: Remove all rust and loose paint using sandblasting or power tools. Smooth edges and corners. Repair damaged areas to the original paint film thickness.
6. Large repairs/new steel (when wet) should be dry (or wet) sandblasted to Sa 2.5.
7. The sandblasting density must be above 90%.
